Honda SUV Buying Tips

Best Honda SUV’s to Buy in 2019

It doesn’t take a prognosticator or a marketing wizard to see what direction the automotive market is moving. Just watch the sales trends. As General Motors, Ford and Fiat-Chrysler move away from producing sedans as fast as possible, the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) market now makes up nearly 43 percent of new car automotive sales in the United States.

Nobody is more confident that the SUV market will continue than Honda Motors, makers of four red-hot SUVs, the 2019 Honda CR-V, the 2019 Honda HR-V, the 2019 Honda Passport, and the 2019 Honda Pilot.

Ranging in price from approximately $21,000 for the base model HR-V to $33,000 for the base model Honda Passport, this impressive list of SUV’s has something for everyone who is interested in purchasing one of Honda’s SUVs.

Why Purchase a Honda SUV?

Before discussing SUV models in particular, the first thing to do is to discuss the reputation of Honda in general. According to sources such as Kelly Bluebook, Honda’s have had a reputation for reliability for years, and are among the most trusted brands in the automotive industry. The company, which produces both the Honda Accord and the Honda Civic, also have a great reputation for getting high gas mileage.

So what about the 2019 Honda Suv line-up?

We’ll begin with the 2018 CR-V.

Honda sold nearly 400,000 of these solidly built SUV’s last year, so the sheer popularity of them alone is a massive appeal. In a review of the vehicle, Edmunds.com, rated the Honda CR-V a solid 8 out of 10 or higher on every factor that the reviewed. The driving experience was rated an 8 out of 10, the comfort level, also an 8, the interior room was given an 8.5 and the utility level, a 9.5 out of 10.

Gas Mileage is among the highest in the crossover category in the industry.

The Honda HR-V

A little smaller than the CR-V, Edmunds gave it a 7.1 out of 10, rating it an 8.0 for the interior and an 8,5 for utility. Clearly, Edmunds reviewers preferred a bigger vehicle like the CR-V, rating the HR-V less than impressive in both comfort and driving. However, the price of the HR-V is several thousand dollars less.

The 2019 Honda Passport and the 2019 Honda Pilot

Two much larger vehicles, the Passport features a front and back seat, and a lot of room behind, while the Pilot has a third seat in the back. Both models are very popular with those who bought them, while Edmunds gave the Passport an 8.1 overall out of 10, while the Pilot received and 8.2 overall. Both vehicles received either a 4 or 5-star rating from 80 percent of customers.

Which to Buy?

If you want to go large, buy either the Pilot or the Passport. However, if you want a smaller vehicle, the CR-V is king.
